Alternatives to Violence Services
Alternatives to Violence (ATV)[a men's program], and Women Ending Abuse and Violence (WEAV)[a women's program], teaches men and women to avoid abuse and violence in dealing with conflict situations.
Alternatives to Violence is a 26-week course and is designed as an open-ended program for men who either enroll voluntarily, or are court-ordered to work on issues related to domestic abuse battery. The group is co-facilitated and urges peer leadership. An open-ended process enables participants to start at any time and learn from one another. The core goal is to teach healthy ways to communicate and be in a relationship free from abuse based on issues of power and control.
Women Ending Abuse and Violence is the female equivalent of the ATV men’s program but is 12 weeks in length.
Please call the HELP office for more information and referral to these groups.
